Dreams are fragile, you've got to protect them.
I usually encourage people, telling them their dreams are very much possible, making them to see the bright side of it all. However, today, let us look at some of those things that will stop your dreams from coming true.
Below are four possible reasons why your dreams might fail.
1. You let past disappointments and hurts hinder you.
Many people live with the memory of failure embedded in their minds and subconsciousness. Perhaps a business they started went broke, or had a failed relationship, or they were fired from a position of leadership etc. Disappointment is the gap that exists between expectation and reality, and all of us have encountered that gap. Failure is a necessary and natural part of life, but if you are going to attain your dreams, then you have to summon the courage to deal with past hurts and failures.
2. You permit others discourage you from dreaming.
You have to pilot your own dreams; you should not entrust them to anyone else. People who aren’t following their own dreams or are failures hate to see you pursue yours. Such people feel inadequate when you succeed, so they always try to drag you down.
Your dreams are hijacked when you listen to negative external voices. At some point, other people will place limitations on you by doubting your abilities. When surrounded by the turbulence of criticism, you have to grasp the controls tightly to keep from being knocked off course.
3. You often settle for average.
Average is the norm for a reason. Being exceptional demands extra effort, sustained inspiration and uncommon discipline. When you become determined in achieving your dreams, you have to overcome the weight of opposition. Like gravity, life’s circumstances will constantly pull on your dreams, tugging you down to mediocrity.
Most people do not pay the price to overcome the opposition to their dreams. You may start out inspired, but through time get tired. Although never intending to abandon your dreams, you begin to make concessions here and there. Through time, your life becomes mundane, and your dreams slip away.
4. You are missing the imagination to dream.
For thousands of years, humanity traveled along the ground: by foot, by horse, by locomotive and eventually by automobile. Thanks to the dreams of Orville and Wilbur Wright, we now travel across oceans in a matter of hours. The imaginative brothers overcame ridicule and doubt to pioneer human flight, and the world has never been the same.
Many of us play small because we do not allow ourselves to dream. You trap yourself in reality and never dare to go beyond what you can see with your eyes. Imagination lifts you beyond average by giving you a vision of life that surpasses what you are experiencing currently. Dreams infuse your spirit with energy and propels you on to greatness.
Never stop dreaming!
